The infinity engine lends itself to mouse and keyboard becuase there is a lot of point and click functions as well as dragging item options and multiple selections that make it somewhat challenging however, because the game does (or rather allows and encourages the player to) pause during combat or anything for that matter, it allows for a little extra time necessary to meneuver. I really wanted to spend some time creating a custom gamepad profile that really is intuitive because this is one of those games that is difficult to translate to a controller. That being said, I am not responsible for any problems or issues as a result of uninstalling or making changes to your system so DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. It's also available on (for now) if you need to download it again. I would keep a copy of the driver on hand in case you actually do need to re-install it later, just in case. If you so choose, you can actually uninstall the utility and the drivers will stay intact and your controller will continue to function normally giving you complete control of the guide button so it will not interrupt the game when going to the menu. This will interrupt the game and switch to the desktop to bring it up (which can be annoying). *A note about the guide button - If you are using the standard Xbox 360 (Or Wireless) Controller Windows 8.1 Drivers, it will install a utility that will always map the guide button to open a small utility that shows the controller ID and battery level in a little window. + = Steam activity monitor (Chat with friends)ĭPAD- = Zoom In / Scroll Up in Dialog BoxĭPAD- = Zoom Out / Scroll Down in Dialog Box = (Shift) (hold for stacking combat commands and multiple selections) ![]() = Show items you can interact with on screen (Y) = Inventory (Access to Character, Journal, Map, etc.) (X) = Right Click (Hold to rotate position of party) (RIGHT STICK) = Move Screen (punch in to follow leader with camera) (LEFT STICK) = Mouse movement (punch in for map) (BACK) + (START) = Deactivate Controller Companion (native) *(GUIDE) = Task Switcher (Windows) (see note at bottom about GUIDE button) Click to automatically add this profile to "Controller Companion" (required) which will allow you to play Pillars of Eternity with the Xbox controller. ![]()
